Kelly Holmer Highlighted!

Occupation: Pursuing Radiology Degree at Kettering College of Medical Arts
Favorite Color: Baby blue Favorite Food: Mac & Cheese with A1 sauce :)
Hobbies: laying out, hanging with my friends, playing tennis, dancing, being with my boyfriend & family
Favorite Books/Movie: The Notebook (every girls dream!)
Favorite music: Anything!
Pet Peeve: I hate running late or when people run late. I'm the queen at procrastinating.
Best Vacation you have ever had: My two trips to New Orleans or Spring break trips (Long Boat key or Panama)
Favorite Holmer family memory: There are so many, but either when the uncles put money up in a chandler while we were playing skip-bo or when we braided Brian's hair… haha
Something most people don’t know about you: I have been dealing with being sick for almost 2 years now. I recently found out I have a narrowed celiac artery and I have gallstones. The gallbladder is being removed July 2nd, so hopefully this will solve my problem. Praying!
Are you a morning person or a night person? Well I hate getting up, but I love breakfast! hehe!
What is the craziest thing you have ever done? Rode a bike a good 6 miles to go see a girl’s boyfriend on a main highway! Dumb!

You're about to sing at a karaoke bar … what song did you choose? Prince – “Kiss” (Thanks to all the cousins)
A talent you wish you had or something you wish you knew how to do better: I wish I could sing better... I try, but I don't think it sounds the way it should... :)
If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be? Away from Wilmington. I just got done with school and I'm ready for a vacation away from all the stress.

Someone who’s had a significant influence on your life and why:
My Mom, Dad, and Lauren. They are always there for me. They are the ones who push me to do my very best all the time. Sure they can be hard on me, but in the end it's what I needed. My Mom keeps my head on straight. My Dad is my hero, the one who can make me laugh all the time. My sister: My best friend, my rock, and the one I admire. Also, my boyfriend Joey, he has taught me how I should truly be treated and how to never settle for less. We've together for only 7months, but it feels like I've known him my whole life.
List some goals that you'd like to accomplish sometime in your lifetime: My goal is to be successful. I want to be happily married with two children, with my radiology degree.
Describe your style: My style changes constantly, ask my mom...lol.. But I'm pretty girly, but trust me I can still get down and dirty. So I guess you could say I love to wear sweat pants and a t-shirt, but I can also wear dresses and get all dolled up.
Your favorite sport to watch? My favorite sport to watch is tennis if Andy Roddick is playing :)
Favorite sport to play? I LOVE to play Tennis. What's the hardest or most challenging thing you've ever done? Hardest thing I've ever done is learn to let go of the past. I've recently done what I like to call spring cleaning of my life. I've packed up my past and moved onto the future.
What are your weaknesses? My weakness is shopping! I love to spend money.. Trust me ask my dad!
Share a time in your life when you were particularly proud or felt accomplished: I had a rough first year in college, and now that I've completed my second year, I'm happy to say I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa (honor society). I've grown mentally and physically.

Holmer Highlighted
Hi Family,
I’d like to start a series of posts on this blog called “Holmer Highlighted”. I’ll randomly select a family member to “highlight” every few weeks and send them a list of questions to answer so we can learn a bit more about him or her. I’ll also request that they send me some recent pictures (or you can settle for me selecting any pictures I can find). The person being highlighted can choose to answer as few or as many of the questions on the list. I’d love to hear your suggestions on what types of questions to ask or anything else that might make this series fun to read.
Here’s a few I’ve come up with so far:
What is/are your …
Occupation
Favorite Color
Favorite Food
Hobbies
Favorite Books/Movies/Television Shows
Pet Peeve(s)
Best Vacation you have ever had
Favorite Holmer family memory
Which is your favorite time of the day, are you a morning person or a night person?
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
You’re about to sing at a karaoke bar … what song did you choose?
A talent you wish you had or something you wish you knew how to do better.
Please send your ideas my way. I really hope you’ll all be responsive to this … it’ll be fun to read about family members and it will also help to keep the blog updated!
Thanks in advance for your participation!
Love,
Julie

Holmer Birthdays

Thanks Aunt Willa for compiling a list of the Holmer birthdays.
It's now available HERE for everyone's viewing pleasure.
I'll also post a link on the side "links" menu.
Reunion Meals
Hi Family,
Thought we (Aunt Willa and I) could pick your brains for some dinner suggestions while in Asheville. We have reservations for Wednesday (out) and Friday at the resort. The other days are up for grabs. Family members will be golfing, shopping, sightseeing, etc., and we don't have to plan for every night, but it would be nice to make plans for the family to gather for at least one other dinner together. What do you think of making one night "cottage hopping" and have drinks and snacks (say at the Lodge--which be ALWAYS AVAILABLE), and one course at each cottage and dessert at the last? Everyone (not just those staying in the cottages) could all pitch in preparing and cleaning up. Does this sound like something that would work?
We should also start thinking of dishes that can be made without being cooked or only using a microwave as that's all we'll have to work with at the Lodge. Please comment with your ideas and suggestions!
