Occupation - Recruiter/Headhunter focused on accounting & finance professionals - not the best profession during recessions...oh well! I wear a suit to work every day (not a big fan of this), but I do enjoy the satisfaction of helping someone secure a new job.
Favorite Color - I love all colors, but if I have to pick, I'd say many shades of green-emerald, sage, basically any shade that Bree Hodge wears on Desperate Housewives
Favorite Food - really? seriously? ummmm, I love food, all kinds - Mexican, Italian, Thai, Indian, Southern food (aka, fried stuff), Cajun/creole, seafood, Persian, sushi/Japanese...the only thing I'm not a big fan of is peas
Favorite Drink - red wine at the moment, like right this moment! haha Hobbies - I love watching all types of films & am a Netflix subscriber; as my mother would say - I'm a bit of a "vidiot" and watch a lot of TV as well; I love to cook when I have time, and entertain for friends; enjoy trying new restaurants; playing on FaceBook (I'm addicted!!); hiking; traveling when I can; and working on my list of 101 things to do in 1,001 days, which can be found on my FaceBook profile page
Favorite Books/Movies/Television Shows - Books: mostly fiction, anything that takes me away from reality / Movies-all kinds, tend to gravitate towards the indie flicks and/or silly humor-anything Seth Rogan, Will Farrell, Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn / Television shows - where to begin, sorry mom, you taught me better but with the modern DVR, it's addicting: Amazing Race, American Idol, Hells Kitchen, Chuck, The Office, How I Met You Mother, Terminator, CSIs, Cold Case, Without A Trace, all things Food Network, Desperate Housewives (I know, I know, but it's just the sort of mindless banter I need after a long day at the office), Chris Matthews, John Stewart, and I'm sure the list goes on.
Favorite music - all kinds except I'm not a big fan of anything too heavy, no metal, and I don't get into country too much. I like brit pop, indie, alternative, rock-classic and modern, pop, rap, blues, jazz, and I'm a sucker for a musical sing along =)
Pet Peeve(s) - people who say mean things about perfect strangers based on their "cover," talking just to hear oneself talk
Best Vacation you have ever had - that's probably a tie between Spain when I was in high school and New Orleans with some girlfriends about 5 years ago
Favorite Holmer family memory - one thing that comes to mind right now is a memory I have of all of us Holmers standing in a BIG circle, holding hands to pray before a big meal in Isle of Palms, SC and thinking, "wow, this is a pretty amazing family I have!" Of course I have SO many fond memories of all our reunions (Dana and I sneaking beer in the church basement, beer facials, "marrying" Eric and Lauren, the castle & Uncle Gary falling out of the raft, the cruise, everyone together on the beach in SC, everyone playing games together in NC last year) and I can't wait to make some more in Nashville!
Something most people don’t know about you - when I was in highschool, I used to get physically ill before school on most days. After multiple tests (MRI, sonograms, barium enema) they just determined I had gastro reflux disorder which was highly flared up at that particular time because I was really stressed out about doing well in athletics. I still get it sometimes when I'm stressed or burn the candle at both ends too much...and I often get anxiety (mostly work-related) which keeps me from sleeping well
Which is your favorite time of the day … are you a morning person or a night person? I'm certainly more productive in the morning, but I enjoy the night time more when I can relax and do whatever I like
What is the craziest thing you have ever done? probably getting tattooed...twice. Sorry, Mom...and don't do it, kids...not worth it.
You're about to sing at a karaoke bar … what song did you choose? Bette Davis Eyes
A talent you wish you had or something you wish you knew how to do better. play piano, math, and I wish I was more disciplined about exercising
If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be? In Dallas with my family
Someone who’s had a significant influence on your life and why? My mom and dad, they taught me the importance of family, independence and personal accountability. They also accept me as I am, even when I'm not so good...and they have always been supportive of me even if I'm not being the most practical...which I'm often not.
List some goals that you'd like to accomplish sometime in your lifetime...could be related to travels, education, job, family, etc. Travel...a lot! Have a family and live within my means. Not have any regrets (hence my 101 list...it's my own personal bucket list for the next couple years)!
Describe your style. Casual, but I can get gussied up for a night out on the town
Your favorite sport to watch? football, basketball & volleyball To play: volleyball
What's the hardest or most challenging thing you've ever done? could be related to work, family, etc. Moving away from my family...twice. I could have stayed in Dallas after Katrina, but I picked up and moved to Cali. I still remember the day I drove off with the U-haul hitched up to my Honda and how I cried. It's really hard to be away from them. I'd really like to get back to Dallas one day. The next most challenging was starting a new career at Robert Half...I put in a lot of hours when I first started and am only now starting to feel like I may be getting the hang of it (10 months later).
What are your weaknesses? Food, of course...I'm not always the most disciplined around good food. I'm also very sensitive and sometimes wish I could control the tears a bit better!
Share a time in your life when you were particularly proud or felt accomplished. While it's been the hardest thing for me, I'd have to say I'm proud that I moved away from my home and comfort zone to try something new to me. Making new friends and building a life for myself away from home makes me believe that I can be thrown into any situation and deal with it without too much fuss.
